Details

The Knox Façade Improvement Program in Downtown Knox is made possible through funding from the McElhattan Foundation (learn more at: https://www.mcelhattan.org), which is part of a broader initiative to revitalize downtown business districts across Clarion County by supporting exterior building improvements.

The Knox Façade Improvement Program will provide dollar-for-dollar matching grants up to $10,000 to eligible commercial property and business owners to support upgrades that enhance the appearance, safety, and preservation of commercial buildings. Examples of eligible projects include painting, window and door replacements, masonry repairs, awnings, lighting, and other exterior improvements.

Interested business and property owners in Knox must submit a completed application, along with cost estimates and renderings or visual descriptions of the proposed improvements, to the CCEDC. The CCEDC will review all submissions to ensure they align with program guidelines and will issue formal approval before any work begins. Grant funding will be awarded on a reimbursement basis, meaning funds will be disbursed only after the project is completed and inspected by the CCEDC. Grant applications will be accepted until the funds have been expended.

Completed Project: Shear Cheveux

Shear Cheveux is a popular downtown business that helps bring people into Knox every day and generates important foot traffic for surrounding businesses.

Through this project, the CCEDC partnered with Shear Cheveux to help beautify and preserve their historic two-story building, which has stood in downtown Knox for more than 100 years. The improvements not only enhance the appearance of the property but also help preserve the character and vitality of downtown Knox for years to come.

Congratulations to Shear Cheveux on this exciting transformation and thank you for continuing to invest in the Knox community!
