Advocating for Clarion County

The Clarion County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) serves as the voice of the business community and a trusted liaison between local stakeholders and elected officials at the local, regional, state, and federal levels.
Our goal is to ensure rural communities aren’t overlooked in policy decisions while bringing additional resources specifically to Clarion County. We work with other boroughs, townships, and counties to build a unified regional identity.
Along with speaking directly to elected officials, the EDC helps local leaders and businesses navigate complex systems. We can use our legislative knowledge to help you be heard.
Here are a few ways the EDC advocates on behalf of Clarion County:
Policy Advocacy
The EDC monitors legislative activity and engages policymakers on issues that matter to our region. A few of our top issues include:
- Rural broadband expansion
- Infrastructure funding
- Workforce development programs
- Business climate reform
- Support for the agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism sectors
- Housing development
- Community revitalization
- Stakeholder Engagement
Stakeholder Engagement
The EDC doesn’t work alone. Instead, it forms coalitions with businesses, local governments, non-profits, and educational institutions to act as one. The goal of the EDC is to make residents and business owners aware of laws that could affect them before and after they pass. Here are a few ways the EDC works within the county:
- Hosting legislative briefings, roundtables, and public forums
- Coordinating letter-writing and joint funding initiatives
- Elevating local success stories to external audiences
- Mobilizing business input on pressing policy issues
Representation and Storytelling
The goal of the EDC is to be present during discussions and proposals that could affect the residents and business owners of Clarion County. We want to be a voice at the table for Clarion County and Northwest Pennsylvania as a whole. Our storytelling efforts, local data, and coalition efforts make us effective advocates to grow Clarion County sustainably.
