A high-energy workforce that understands energy technology

Clarion County, Pennsylvania is in a state that’s been an energy leader for centuries, using innovative ideas to make the most of our natural resources. Thanks to Pennsylvania’s natural gas production, which at more than 5 trillion cubic feet makes the Commonwealth the nation’s second-largest producer, we’re among America’s top three energy exporters.

Those tremendous volumes of natural gas also provide affordable energy for heat, power, electricity generation, and downstream manufacturing, as well as plenty of CNG for use as transportation fuel. Companies using natural gas and natural gas liquids like ethane and propane as a feedstock, such as Royal Dutch Shell’s “ethane cracker” petrochemical plant nearby, can take advantage of our abundant supply, making our area an excellent site for plastics and chemical production.

We’re within a one-day truck drive of more than 153 million consumers who represent nearly half of the population of the United States, and we’re located halfway between New York City and Chicago. Clarion County is bisected by transcontinental Interstate 80 (with north-south I-79 just to the west), giving businesses rapid and affordable access to materials, suppliers, and markets. For example, automotive component manufacturers are within a day of many of North America’s busiest OEM assembly plants. We’re also a short truck drive from ports in Erie, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore.

Clarion County is in the middle of a remarkably large and diverse labor shed. The thirteen counties that make up that resource within 50 miles are home to more than 429,000 hard-working individuals, ensuring a steady supply of people for growing companies.
